Pole-lathe Turned Bowls
Whether for museli, soup or an evening meal, a wooden bowl is a joy to use. Made using a foot-powered pole-lathe and special hook tools which I forge myself, these bowls are part of a tradition dating back to medieval times.
Each bowl is unique and bears the marks left by the sharp cutting hooks. This gives a subtle pattern of ridges reminiscent of hand-thrown pottery.
As with all my kitchenware, they can be simply washed up in soapy water, allowing them to dry before putting away. Staying cool in your hand, they are perfect for camping trips or a meal in front of the tv.
